this is not a rhetorical question
this morning on the news, i heard that oil dropped below $100 a barrel(!). this afternoon on the northside, i saw a couple gas stations still selling the “cheap” formula for $4.49 a gallon. why is it that the price of gas reacts immediately to bad news about oil production, but not to good news? that msnbc story even directly quotes an oil pricing expert as saying consumers will see a “disconnect” between crude oil and gasoline prices – but then the paragraph ends. which is to say, without any explanation as to why. the article even starts out with confirmation that damage caused by gustav and ike was “less than feared,” and later reports that the ten damaged pipelines and platforms are only a fraction of the 3,800 that exist in the gulf. wtf?
