how crazy is this? the second website giving you free books (printed this time) that i’ve come across today. this one comes courtesy of a friend, who has offered a little background on how it came to be:

“an author had a contract to write a book for a commercial publisher. the author wrote a book about a piano player who travels the country stealing from people of wealth and redistributing that money to people he (subjectively) determines are worthy. commercial publisher declines to publish the book.

“same author self-publishes the book and in the process creates a publishing focused non-profit dedicated to giving books away for free to people worthy of them (interesting tie to the premise of the book). now you, the reader can go to the site and request a book, read it, pass it on. use the web-based ‘givingtracker’ to keep tabs on where the book came from, where it went and where (if at all) you made the requested charitable donation.”
