even the republicans are saying “McSame”
in regards to president george w. bush, how many times have you heard the phrase “you may not always agree with him, but << fill in the blank – usually with at least you know where he stands >>”? go ahead – google that. “you may not always agree with him” and “bush.” you’ll get more than a handful of results, including a quote from w’s own white house counselor, dan bartlett. i always thought that was a ridiculous rationale for supporting a politician (hey, you may think this guy is sometimes crazy and/or an @sshole, but at least you know he’s crazy and/or an @sshole), but apparently the GOP is trotting out that same defense of their man in this election. last night at the republican national convention, joe lieberman said “you may not agree with john mccain on every issue, but you can always count on him to be straight with you about where he stands and to stand for what he thinks is right for our country, regardless of the politics.” well, for one, i don’t believe that’s true. and, also, look how well that worked out for us the last time.
